Although Maryknoll has worked in Sudan on and off for the past twenty years, its mission to the war-torn area of the Nuba Mountains only began in 1998. Despite the dangers of falling bombs and civil war, Fr. Tom felt called to serve the suffering people of the Nuba Mountains. His presence is Christ's light dispelling the darkness and witnessing to God's Love.

Thomas Tiscornia comes from Tenafly, New Jersey, to serve as a pastoral agent among the people of the Nuba Mountains. He had previously worked worked in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
