MAC is the Mission Awareness Committee of the Religious Superiors Association of Tanzania (RSAT), started in 1987. It has members from missionary-oriented societies and congregations in Tanzania, with a wide variety of people interested in "Ad Gentes" mission, including priests, sisters, brothers and lay people. Ed Hayes helped start the committee. Presently John Sivalon is the contact person with RSAT and John Waldrep and Joe Healey (chairperson and half-time coordinator) assist the group. MAC emphasizes activities and projects to help promote a missionary spirit, a mission consciousness and missionary activity in the local church. Such activities include: 

• Producing a monthly Swahili radio program called Sisi Sote ni Wamisionari (We are all missionaries) for broadcast on the local Catholic F.M. radio station Radio Tumaini in Dar Es Salaam. Copies are supplied to other radio stations: in Kenya (KBC) and Vatican Radio. MAC also helps the mission commission of the Tanzanian Episcopal Conference and the Pontifical mission Societies to promote Mission Sunday every October.

• Preparing posters and liturgical materials, homily notes, articles for local publications along with radio and television programs to proclaim October as missionary month. 

• Supplying additional help through providing study days and animation seminars and workshops on mission. Two important events this year included a seminar on mission awareness conducted for religious, including 39 philosophy students from various religious communities, and a study workshop on the new document Cooperatio Missionalis, attended by 27 bishops, priests, sisters and lay people.
