Where we Work What we Do |

Shakespeare wrote that all the world is a stage and all the men and women are merely players strutting on it. I buy that interpretation of life. I have been playing all my life and I have no intention of stopping. I have been playing the role of ministerial priest in the Catholic Church with the added twist of a missioner. I like the role. It fits me well. I play from the depth of my heart. I am convincing in my role. My audience likes my performance. They never clap; but they keep returning to join me in our worship of the Father. It has taken me forty years to learn this role ( I am a bit slow ). Nevertheless I have finally mastered it. It is now me. It is genuine. Struggling to master this role has been made easier by the gift of humor given to me by the Holy Spirit. I have learned to laugh at my constant bungling, my idealism, my society (which I deeply respect...we do know how to do mission), the clay feet of the Church and the agony attached to the search for justice. With a smile on my face I can say that Original Sin is still alive and kicking. I hope my feeble efforts have slowed down its kicking a bit. . . I better laugh at that false thinking. I hope the next forty years will be as funny. |
