Maryknoll in the Former Southwest Africa

Windhoek lies in the center of Namibia and is ideally located as the country's capital. Three Maryknoll priests are presently here working in the AIDS Ministry for the National Bishops' Conference, in the Universities and for the Archdiocese of Windhoek. The city of about 320,000 inhabitants is the largest in Namibia which claims a total population of  almost three million.

Richard Albertine from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is currently teaching theology at the National Seminary and serving as chaplain to university students

Edward Shellito from Erie, Pennsylvania is the newest member of the African Region having transferred from the Philippines. He hopes to assist  in the formation of church personal of the Archdiocese of Windhoek and working with the counselors in the Catholic AIDS program
