Born in 1951 Brother John is the eldest of 9 brothers and sisters. He grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts. After receiving an Augustinian education he graduated from Austin Preparatory School in 1969. In 1973 he earned a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts. From 1973-77 John worked in special education and other jobs until he decided to earn a diploma in Nursing from the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1979. Hospital Nursing was John's life until 1987 when he entered the Maryknoll Brothers' Formation Program. John has served in Africa since 1990.
